On Coonawarra’s doorstep
Over 20 cellar doors serving sumptuous red and white wines from the famous rust-coloured Terra Rossa soil, limestone and pure underground water. A long ripening season combined with the talent and passion of the vignerons and winemakers results in internationally recognised wines with cellaring potential of up to 60 years.
In historic Penola
Penola is the oldest town in the Limestone Coast, with many historical connections including Australia’s only Saint, Mary McKillop; Father Julian Tenison Woods, Adam Lindsay Gordon, John Shaw Neilson & Will Ogilvie. We are located just 40km south of Naracoorte Caves, one of the worlds most important fossil sites.
Penola’s longest standing fine dining restaurant housed in a former Presbyterian church offers French-inspired menu and a wine list that includes local and international wines. We love their cheese selection. Over the years, Pipers has won many awards for both service and food. The menu features some of chef Simon Bowen’s own smoked produce.

Its vineyard setting shows off this restaurant with gorgeous views at sunset. The Italian pasta based menu includes local produce and is matched to Hollick wines. Upstairs from the cellar door at Hollick, overlooking their barrel store.

Eat | Fodder | Drink | Ottelia
Fodder is one of our favourite lunch options in the Coonawarra, with a wood-fired pizza oven and a wonderful menu full of their own garden produce. Try the Gnocchi with burnt sage butter, or one of their gourmet pizzas – no pineapple here!
The wine list is their own label wines – Otellia
